We Are Humans Project is a community-oriented business. What does that mean? In terms of working with us, it’s about the way we recruit people, and about our ownership structure. For us, its about being in an ongoing loop of relationship, where we feed into our community, and our community in turn feeds in and changes us.
But if you like what you see here and are interested to work with us, check out this synopsis of specific talents we are looking for. Please note that these are NOT ads for 'positions vacant'. We don't create positions then find the best fitting person possible, go through a bunch of interviews, etc. If you are attached to that system, or want in some other way to work within that formula, please move on.
We actively want creative thinkers who dislike that system and can instead engage with us forthrightly to work out of if there's a productive, juicy way to work together. This then is just a list of skills and knowledge we'd like to have more of in our group—how you jump off from there is up to you.
FOOD GROWING SKILLS/AGRICULTURAL KNOWLEDGE
We especially want people who know their stuff in terms of growing food, but in particular have the ability to teach others their skills.
PERMACULTURE AND OTHER DESIGN SCIENCE SKILLS
We'd like to have more permaculture talent within the group, but in particular people who can apply design thinking in general to people's lives, and also have the ability to pass that knowledge on.
SOCIAL MEDIA AND PLATFORM SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE OF THE SOCIAL PROBLEMS OF SOCIAL MEDIA/ GENERAL INTERNET PRIVACY ISSUES
This is all about community engagement and very little about 'marketing'. We'd like to have better capacity to reach people and talk to them but not at the expense of anyone's privacy/sense-making/quality of relationship etc. If you know the social media issues, you'll know what we're talking about.
IT/CYBER SECURITY SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE OF GENERAL INTERNET PRIVACY ISSUES
We'd like to have an IT jack-of-all-trades to address issues where they arise, but also to think strategically and long-term about the internet and our position within it and dependence upon it.
CONSTRUCTION SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE OF TYPICAL 'HOMESTEADING' SYSTEMS
We'll need more builders within the group as we go along, but in particular, people who have a good knowledge of the kind of infrastructure needed for resilient homesteads and productive backyards.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE OF THE 'UNDERBELLY' OF AUSTRALIAN FINANCE
We'll be needing more financial management as we go along, but also people who can think long-term and strategically to work with the current financial system in all its darkness and light.
If any of these describe, partially or fully, your skill set/knowledge base, and you are interested in working with a fledgling business doing its best to trade as full humans in a de-humanised economy, get in touch. We'd love to hear from you.
Alternatively, if you've read this website fairly thoroughly, and can see we'd need a different skill that we're not asking for here, we'll listen. If you contact us for this purpose, you'll need to be convincing—we don't have time to entertain any proposal. But if you're genuine and really have something good to offer, get in touch.
